Inocean boss gets visit from Giske in Rio
In 2006 Inocean was among the first Norwegian firms to move into Innovation Norway's incubator office in Rio de Janeiro. Today Inocean CEO Jon Erik Borgen met with Norwegian Minister of Trade and Industry Trond Giske, who is on an official visit to Brazil.

Accompanied by 130 participants, Giske is heading up the biggest trade delegation to ever travel abroad promoting Norwegian business and industry. This reflects the massive interest that the Norwegian supply industry in the oil-and-gas sector has for Brazil.

A number of Norwegian enterprises have joined together in a collaboration organized by Innovation Norway and set up shop on the 24th floor of one of Rio de Janeiro’s skyscrapers. During the opening of a new wing on these premises, Giske took the opportunity to stress the importance of small and medium-sized niche companies for Norwegian business and industry and applauded the efforts made by Inocean and similar enterprises in Brazil.

The government minister showed a keen interest in Jon Erik Borgen’s description of the ambitions and challenges that Norwegian expertise confronts in Brazil. With more than 20 FPSO projects on its reference list, the Norwegian marine engineering firm is eager to participate in the enormous development program initiated by Petrobras.

“Establishing a position in Brazil is a demanding task,” says Jon Erik Borgen. “For that very reason it’s an inspiration to get a visit from Trond Giske, which I interpret as a sign that companies like ours are getting noticed and recognized. We had a congenial and stimulating discussion. I also think efforts like the ones this delegation represents can contribute to opening doors for us who are taking initiatives in this country,” says Borgen.
