Floating LNG production
We are successfully developing a concept that enables a ship to perform all the functions currently done by LNG facilities on land, such as Europe's first LNG plant at Melkøya in Norway. Such a ship must bring the gas up from the seabed, process it and convert it to LNG, then store and export the LNG.
New possibilities
Such a solution's value lies in the ability to produce gas fields located far from shore and existing infrastructure. Our FLNG design helps make possible an offshore LNG plant near the field, where all operations can be performed. This creates savings and flexibility that were not possible from a land-based LNG facility.
Liquefied natural gas or LNG is natural gas (Predominantly methane, CH4) that has been converted temporarily to liquid form for ease of storage or transport.
