Lesson learned
Knock Allan is the largest conversion project that Inocean has carried out for Fred Olsen Production. Now, two years after initial work started, it is time for a recap.

Project manager Per Gabrielsen at Fred Olsen Productions (FOP) supervised activities in Dubai while Ove Rylandsholm and Kåre Strømsvik served as FOP's key contacts with Inocean's project team.

Ready for Gabon

"This is a great ship," says Ove Rylandsholm. "The final design is well suited for Knock Allan's future operations off Gabon on the west coast of Africa. There are always plenty of challenges in a project of this magnitude, and some things certainly could have been done differently. But my experience is that we've achieved our goals most satisfactorily."

Several players

Inocean's work with Knock Allan has included technical documentation and drawings for class approval such as general arrangement drawings, hydrodynamic analysis, global structures, deck structures, marine systems and 3D modeling of piping and layout. The work had to be closely coordinated with the shipyard, classification society and a wide array of equipment suppliers.

Moving us ahead

"Inocean has played a vital role within this complex scenario, especially as a ?tracking dog' and a problem solver," says Rylandsholm. "By this I mean that Inocean is proficient at positioning itself in the terrain and taking initiatives to find routes that carry the project ahead in the right direction. They also have the necessary stamina and are not afraid of breathing down our necks. It's essential for the bottom line and the progress of such a project that Inocean is on target with its evaluations and calculations. The fact that we delegated so much responsibility to Inocean indicates that we have confidence in the work the company does for us," says Ove Rylandsholm.
