Today is the naming ceremony of BW Pioneer at the Keppel Shipyard in Singapore.
BW Pioneer is the first FPSO (Floating Production Storage Offloading unit) that have been approved for the hurricane affected U.S. Gulf of Mexico. In addition, it is the deepest moored FPSO ever. A pioneer project in several ways, in other words.
The engineers from Inocean have worked with the Pioneer project in almost two years on assignment from the ship's owner, BW Offshore. The FPSO, which is a converted tanker, will be operating for Petrobras America Inc on the Cascade and Chinook field for five years with an option for a further three years from the start up at the field - scheduled 1 quarter of 2010.
- Inocean is proud to have participated in bringing the FPSO technology to the Gulf the U.S. Gulf of Mexico, says John Namork, Managing Director of Inocean. - This has been the largest and probably the most demanding of the 15 FPSO projects we have executed. The fact that we celebrate a little extra today is also because that after a year with many challenges, we now sees that it is significantly more activity in the market. This bodes well for 2010, says Namork.
